You’ve found your perfect frames and now it’s time to choose the right lenses. Or perhaps you already have frames you love and simply want to upgrade the lenses to better suit your lifestyle. With so many options available, the process can sometimes feel overwhelming. That’s why we’ve created this simple guide to help you find the lenses that are right for you.
We offer a wide range of lenses designed to match both your lifestyle and your frames. Depending on your age and vision needs, we may recommend either single-vision or multifocal lenses. Single-vision lenses are tailored for seeing clearly at one distance - whether that’s close-up, such as when reading, or far away, like watching TV. If you need support with both near and distance vision, multifocal lenses (including bifocals and varifocals) could be the ideal choice.
Single vision lenses
Whether you need lenses to help you focus on far-away objects, nearby objects or computer screens, we have three clear options to suit your needs.
Essential: These lenses are scratch resistant to protect against everyday use. They come as standard with your glasses frames
Enhanced: These upgraded lenses provide less reflections, increased scratch resistance, and easy clean properties
ClearView: ZEISS ClearView lenses are visibly flatter than standard single vision lenses* and include all the benefits from our enhanced lenses, plus sunglass level UV protection and blue light filtering
Multifocal lenses
Multifocal lenses is an umbrella term that includes both bifocals and varifocals. If you already have prescription glasses but notice that you are struggling to see at other distances, these two types of lenses provide clear vision at different distances, so that you don’t need to swap between glasses.
Bifocal lenses
A bifocal lens has two different prescriptions in one lens. The lens has two different areas of vision, divided by a visible horizontal line across the lens. The top portion helps with distance vision, while the bottom section handles close-up tasks such as reading.
Varifocal lenses
A varifocal lens has three different prescriptions in one lens. The top is for distance, the middle of the lens can be used for immediate tasks like computer use, and the bottom of the lens is designed for close-up tasks like reading. This is all blended into the lens so that there is no visible line, unlike bifocal lenses.
Our varifocal lenses are available in four options:
-
Essential: Our standard varifocal lenses are scratch resistant as standard
-
Enhanced: Our enhanced varifocal lenses are scratch resistant, plus they have fewer reflections. The field of vision is also wider than that of a standard lens. This lens is good for reading and light computer use
-
Advanced: Our advanced varifocal lenses include all of the benefits from our enhanced varifocal lenses, but with a wider field of vision. This lens is recommended if you are regularly changing distances and using the computer or reading for long periods
-
Varilux® Physio: These are our premium varifocal lenses. They come with all of the benefits from our advanced lenses, plus wider fields of vision and great contrast, whatever the situation and in any light conditions. These lenses are modified to the prescription of both of your eyes so that your eyes work better together, resulting in improved focus for smooth transitions between distance to near vision zones and vice versa.
