What is a contact lens check-up?
Our contact lens check-up (sometimes called a contact lens aftercare appointment) is for people who already wear contact lenses. It’s a simple way to make sure your lenses are still comfortable, your eyes are healthy, and everything is working as it should.
It’s also a great opportunity to chat about how you’re getting on with your lenses — whether anything feels different, your lifestyle has changed, or you just want some advice.
How much does a contact lens check-up cost?
A contact lens check-up costs £50. If you are part of our Contact Lens Rewards Plan or Contact Lens Care plan, your contact lens check-up is included as part of your plan, with no extra cost.
What happens during the appointment?
Please come to your appointment wearing your contact lenses. During the check-up, you’ll be asked to take them out, so remember to bring your glasses and a contact lens case if you wear reusable lenses.
We’ll also check your vision with your contact lenses in to make sure your prescription and lens type are still the right fit for you.
The appointment can last up to 30 minutes & allow your optician to:
-
Check your vision
-
Check how your lenses fit
-
Check whether you find your lenses comfortable
-
Flag any underlying eye problems
-
Offer treatment or advice if you’re experiencing dry or itchy eyes
-
Suggest switching to a different type of contact lens if your current contact lenses are not suiting you
How often should I have a contact lens check-up?
Regular check-ups help keep your eyes healthy and your lenses working their best. How often you’ll need one depends on your clinician’s advice, but most people have a check-up every 1 to 2 years.
