Combined eye test and contact lens check-up

One visit, two essentials. Your eye test and contact lens check-up

What is an eye test and contact lens check-up

Normally, contact lens wearers require two separate appointments: A Contact Lens Check allows your optician to check your vision in the contact lenses, how they fit, whether you find your lenses comfortable, check the eye health relating to the contact lenses and offer advice or treatment options as required. An eye test, allows the optician to look for changes in your spectacle prescription, examines the health of the eyes including the back of the eye, and provides advice and a tailored recommendation based on your visual needs.

If both checks are due at the same time, you can book a combined appointment and have everything done in a single visit. If only one is needed, you can book that appointment separately.

How much does an eye test and contact lens check-up cost?

A contact lens check-up costs £50, plus our Essential Eye Test which costs from £29.95* (but you may be eligible for a free NHS eye test). If you are part of our Contact Lens Rewards Plan or Contact Lens Care plan, your contact lens check-up and eye test cost is included as part of your plan.

What happens during the appointment?

Please arrive wearing your lenses and bring your glasses. If you use reusable lenses, bring your lens case as well.

During your eye test, your optician will assess your vision at both near and far distances and check how your eyes adjust focus between them. They may also carry out a quick, painless eye pressure check or visual field test to detect early signs of conditions like glaucoma. A digital retinal photograph will also be taken to create a permanent record, allowing us to monitor any changes in your eye health over time. Find out more about what happens during your eye test here.

We’ll also check your vision with your contact lenses in to make sure your prescription and lens type are still the right fit for you.

How often should I have a check-up?

Regular check-ups help keep your eyes healthy and your lenses working their best. How often you’ll need one depends on your clinician’s advice, but most people have a check-up every 1 to 2 years.
