At Boots Opticians, our range of eye tests, scans and health checks not only assess your vision but also give a detailed picture of your eye health. These tests can help detect wider health conditions such as diabetes and glaucoma — often before you notice any symptoms.
That’s why it’s important to have your eyes checked at least every two years, or as advised by your optometrist, even if your sight feels perfectly fine.

Our eye tests and eye scans
Our Essential Eye Test
From £29.95
This routine check-up looks at how clearly you can see and how healthy your eyes are. Our Essential Eye Test, which also includes our Dry Eye Evaluation,* costs from £29.95,** but you may be eligible for a free NHS eye test. It's recommended that children have their eyes tested at least every two years, or as directed by your optometrist. Find out more about what happens at an Essential Eye Test here.
NHS eye tests are free for all children under 16 years old and those under 19 years old who are in full-time education. Find out more here.
Our Advanced Eye Test
From £54.95
Our Advanced Eye Test includes an OCT scan (Optical Coherence Tomography), alongside your Essential Eye Test, which also includes our Dry Eye Evaluation.*
Our OCT scan enables us to take a deeper look into your eye, which can help us spot over 10 health conditions including diabetes and high blood pressure. As the Advanced Eye Test includes additional scans beyond the Essential Eye Test, extra charges may apply from £25.***
