Finding the perfect eyewear for kids can be a challenging task. This is especially difficult when looking for frames that have a perfect fit, appeal to children and most importantly, enable them to see clearly. That's why the Star Fit collection has been developed to help eliminate these challenges and to support kids with clear vision.

What is Star Fit?

Star Fit is a collection of eyewear designed and tailored specifically for children aged 2 and over. The frames and the lenses have been designed to balance the technical requirements of children's eyewear with aesthetics and comfort.

Most paediatric frames

Between the ages of 2-6 the developing nose of a child is wider, flatter and lower than an adults nose. As most paediatric frames are scaled down versions of adult frames, children’s glasses often slide down their nose and cause them to look over their frames.

This can result in a change in children’s prescription and accelerate myopia (short-sightedness in children). Read more on myopia here.

Healthy vision is important for every child's social growth, school success, and well-being so having the right glasses fit is essential for a child’s development.

Why is Star Fit different?

The Star Fit collection has been developed based on research done by Dr. Alicia Thompson, an expert in paediatric dispensing. The collection has been developed with a deep understanding of children’s facial parameters that influence the fit of the frame.

The features of the Star Fit frames have been specifically designed with the child’s comfort, safety and sight in mind.  Some of these featured include:

  • A lower bridge position of the frames to fit their noses better

  • Wider angles and widths than regular children's frame

  • Balanced weight of the frame for a comfortable fit in young wearers

Children regularly look upwards and as a result they end up gazing over their lens. The lens shape in the Star Fit range has been designed with this in mind to ensure the child isn’t looking over the lens of their frames. Some of the models within the collection also have a two-position option on the bridge which provides even more adjustability and to ensure the frames stay in place.

Adjustability for a specialised fit

Additional features have been added to the frames so that the head width and temple width can be adjusted for a perfect fit. Sides can be easily shortened as the wires are made with easy-to-adjust materials, as well as the tip size which can be reduced easily too. There are also frames available which come with a strap to accommodate children who have additional needs.

Fashionable and eco-friendly

Frames are often seen as fashion accessories rather than medical devices. However, Star Fit combines the best of both worlds as they are both fashionable and designed for optimum fit. The frames come in a variety of colours and playful designs to ensure children love them too! Star Fit have created their frames with the planet in mind. The acetate used in the frames are eco-biodegradable and the metal frames are crafted from recycled metal excluding the hinges.
